So, I realized I hadn't actually posted anything in forever, so the topic today is...
SUPER HEROES!
I have been going through a superhero phase lately, so I decided to just roll with it.
First and foremost, I'm just going to start out by saying that Marvel Comics are my favorite. This is not just based off the movies either! I have watched TV shows and read comics. The original "Batman" comics are alright (and I love Richard Grayson as Robin), but the 1998 "Young Justice" comics just left a bad taste in my mouth. Marvel heroes, however, are always entertaining, from the 1943 "Captain America" to the 1963 "Avengers."

Don't get me wrong, I love DC TV shows. "Flash" and Cartoon Network's version of "Young Justice" are among my favorite shows ever. Marvel just leaps ahead of them with the movies and the comics. And how could Marvel movies not be great when you have the amazing talents of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Junior all in one?
The real reason I love Marvel though is because of their characters. Tony Stark (Iron Man) is the epitome of redemption. Steve Rogers (Captain America) shows how strength comes from weakness. Janet Van Dyne (Wasp) shows that it's okay to be girly; you can still be a hero.
DC Heroes, on the other hand, just don't appeal to me as much. Bruce Wayne's (Batman's) story is one of revenge. Clark Kent (Superman) is too all-powerful; no one in real life has that many extraordinary abilities. Black Canary and Robin/Nightwing/Richard Grayson are alright, and Wally West (Kid Flash/Flash) is hilarious, but then you have arrogant and angst-ridden Superboy, and annoying, immature Bart Allen (Impulse).
Marvel's characters stand for something more than themselves. Don't believe me? Just read this Captain America quote:

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth and tell the whole world -
"No, YOU move."
