This project involved investigating mechanical advantage provided by simple machines. For each simple machine (Inclined plane, wheel and axle, lever, and pulley), the ideal mechanical advantage (IMA) was calculated by dividing the distance of the effort by the distance of the resistance.
For this project, our group was tasked with building a device to catch a mouse. It could be as complicated as we wanted, and it could aim to capture or kill. We came up with a plethora of ideas, including snares, one-way doors, and dropping a brick on the mouse. |
